When the plucky teen needed a hand to realise her dream last year there was no shortage of people willing to help. And Joany hasn't forgotten a single one of them.
"I would really like to thank the entire Griffith community for their endless support towards me in every way, mental, moral and physical," she said. "This is a dream come true, having the opportunity to represent your country in a sport is monumental and it's a moment in my life that I would never ever be able to forget."
Among the long list of locals who showed support are APEX members in Darlington Point, Griffith and Leeton, Rotary Clubs and businesses including Harvey Norman, Owen Toyota and Dom's Motors.
"Clearly she is up to world class standard," Rob Gill from Darlington Point APEX said.
"Apex clubs of Riverina are just so proud to have helped to give Joany the chance to compete for Olympic glory."
