The student-driven gala showcased song, dance and drama performances from 150 of the school’s year 7 to 12 students, with a number of Griffith High School students also involved.
Wade High dance teacher and MADD Night co-ordinator Elise Dessmann said early reviews reported this was the best event the school had ever produced.
“The show was sold out which was an amazing result,” she said.
“We do it to showcase creative and performing arts within Wade High School and it’s a really hands-on experience for the students to do live performing and production.”
Ms Dessmann said standout performances included a musical mashup from year 10 students Bailee McDonald, Caitlyn Irvine, Isaac Brooker and Bethany Hodge; the “Mario Brothers” drumming duo Ngalan Druitt and Jacob Brooker; Francesca Smith on the piano playing a mix of 20 songs in a couple of minutes; and Lucas Ferreira and Natalie Amery who wrote and performed their own songs.
“Dance-wise, they all did a really strong job and the year 8 dance girls choreographed their own routine especially for the night,” she said.
“The drama students put on a really professional performance – the year 10 ensemble did their own version of The Voice, it was a really mature performance.”
MADD Night kicked off with a matinee for students during the day on Friday followed by the ticketed event Friday night.
Ms Dessman said all proceeds would go towards funding a new air-conditioning system for the performing arts and creative arts rooms at the school.
