The Bilbul farmer famous for growing huge vegetables has discovered a huge zucchini growing in his garden.
His prized zucchini clocked in at around 75cm long.
Mr Farronato says he couldn’t believe his eyes when he realised how big it had gotten.
“It was a bit a of a miracle. I’ve never seen a zucchini like that,” he said.
”I never thought I would live to see one so big.”
He says zucchinis of that size are full of seeds, so he’ll be able to put the giant vegetable to good use.
The zucchini isn’t his first huge haul either. In the past, he’s seen a 13kg sweet potato, an 8kg cauliflower and a 2.5kg radicchio all come through his Bilbul garden.
The art of growing good vegetables is something Mr Farronato has been perfecting for a long time.
“Forever I’ve been growing lots of vegetables, since back in Italy,” he said.
“In my family, veggies are on the table every day.”
With such a wealth of experience, it’s no wonder he has a number of tips and tricks to keep any vegetable patch overflowing.
According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the world’s longest zucchini was found in Canada in 2014. It measured a whopping 2.52 metres in length.
Mr Farronato recommends against planting a zucchini directly in the soil. He says to instead making a mound and planting them on top of the mound.
“Plant it in the top of the farrow. Otherwise when you put water it in the zucchini may be rotting or cracking,” he said.
In addition to the impressive veggie patch, he also keeps over 100 chickens and geese on the farm.
