The fun-filled “Bunraiser” day will include balloons, entertainment from singer Suellen Roberts, face painting, and a continuous raffle offering prizes. Female staff will be shaving or dyeing their hair, with male staff enduring the pain of getting their legs waxed. 

Tilly was diagnosed with with Tetraplegia, or an incomplete quadriplegic, after jumping into the home swimming pool two years ago on Saturday.

The accident left her with no movement in both her arms and legs. 

Mum Fiona said she has shown incredible courage.

“She doesn’t give a hoot… she just gets on with things.”

“She is working hard, and has regained movements in her arms”. 

But despite the progress, Fiona said the family are both grateful and reliant on the continued support of the Griffith community.

“A lot of people presume Tilly received an insurance payment. But we never received a cent.”

“It’s hard for people to understand how difficult it’s been for all us”.

Tilly currently has an electric wheelchair that is bulky and heavy. She is unable to get through a normal house sliding door as the weight of the chair buckles sliding tracks through the door.

“We live on a farm and the wheelchair is clearly not suitable. She gets bogged down in the ground”. 

Baker’s Delight and Tilly’s family are fundraising for a new self-propelled Smart Drive Wheelchair, which is lighter, smaller in size and more moveable giving Tilly more access to everyday life. 

Tilly’s family also faces high costs for medical bills, rehabilitation, transport and modifying the family’s home.

Griffith residents are encouraged to get down to Baker’s Delight on March 17 to help out and have fun.
