Griffith Base Hospital’s new junior doctors have been offered a warm welcome to town, meeting with Member for Murray Austin Evans for morning tea.
The junior medical officers and interns are in Griffith for ten weeks on rotation.
Dr Amer Amin is one of the Senior Medical Officers in town for a few weeks. He says while its different to Sydney, he’s come to enjoy Griffith’s unique culture.
“The food in Griffith is great. It’s also not often you see a small country town with the diversity and Italian heritage Griffith has,” he said.

The group also said regional hospitals like Griffith Base allow junior doctors the opportunity to have direct contact with specialists.
All six are currently based out of hospitals in Sydney.
In addition to their full-time residencies, the group are continuing in their studies.
Dr Teresa Yu is completing her rotation within the emergency department and says sometimes you just have to make the extra time.
“It’s just about working around things and finding time on weekends or after work.”
