After winning the toss and electing to bat, Diggers lost an early wicket in Brian Corner (5) who was caught by Jamie Bennett off the bowling of Nick Witherspoon.
Fortunately for Diggers Leon Vico and Brett Green were able to get the score to 24 before Green (11) became Witherspoon’s (2/16) second victim.
Simon Miller (7) wasn’t able to hang around for long, but Vico (26) and Craig Lugton were able to make sure Diggers had a chance at setting a competitive total.
When Lugton (18) was run-out after a 29-run partnership, Diggers would lose their next five wickets for 20 runs as Ben Taylor (3/24) picked up three quick wickets.
Late hitting from Glen Faganello (19*) and Daniel Dossiter (13*) ensured Diggers would set a defendable total as they finished their 40 overs on 8/112.
While it was a slow start for the Cougars, losing Brett Crooks (4) after he was trapped in front by Dossiter, Taylor and Peter Taprell were able to give Coro a kick along.
The pair put on 44 for the second wicket before Vico (1/11) struck to remove the dangerous Taprell (36).
Chase Verri (13) and Brady French (10) were able to get starts, but when French fell with the score on 81, it was the start of trouble for the Cougars.
Corner (3/21) struck to remove French and Andrew McIntyre in quick succession while Neil Casey (2/9), Dossiter (3/26) and Faganello (1/18) chipped in to see the Cougars lose seven wickets for nine runs to be bowled out for 90 in 32.2 overs.
Both sides now have the bye before heading into the final round before semi-finals start on March 10.
Meanwhile in the battle for the top four both Hanwood and Leagues had their final week off before heading into the final two rounds of the season.
