A spokesperson from NSW police could not confirm the precise date, however said things were progressing well with the merger.
“As it stands, there will be no loss of any jobs within the police station, whether it be front-line police or administration, however over time the flattening of the command structure will see more front line police to attend to the needs of the communities,” the spokesperson said.
The new Police Districts will have a District Superintendent, while each police station within the area having an ‘Officer-in-Charge’ model.
The NSW Police spokesperson said staffing appointments were being discussed and organised, with the announcement of who will take the officer in charge position will be made closer to the date.
Superintendent Michael Rowan will remain in charge of the Murrumbidgee Police District which includes Griffith, Barellen, Barmedman, Coleambally, Darlington Point, Goolgowi, Hay, Hilston, Leeton, Narrandera, Rankins Springs, Tallimba, Ungarie and West Wyalong.

The new Riverina Police District including the Wagga Local Area Command officially merged with with parts of the old Cootamundra LAC and Albury on February 11, and has been divided into four sectors: Temora, Tumut, Cootamundra and Wagga.
It comes after NSW police commissioner Mick Fuller announced last year the roll-out of a controversial re-engineering program, resulting in 34 Local Area Commands being replaced by 26 “police districts”.
