Griffith resident Michelle Venrooy saw two young people riding an unregistered dirt bike down Banna Avenue at around 9.00am on Wednesday.
With her family heavily involved in motocross and speed racing, she fears for the image of the sport in the community following the recklessness of a few.
“I was sitting there having a coffee with a friend, and I looked up and I said look at this: it was two people on a bike who had come past Owen Toyota, past the court house. They had no helmets on, their caps on backwards, and went speeding through the roundabout,” Ms Venrooy said.
“It wasn’t a registered bike, but it looked like a relatively new Honda, and they just looked like they’d stolen it.”
Inspector Nick Seddon from Griffith Local Area Command said to report all sightings as they happen.
“We need to patrol the area so we can stop them,” Inspector Seddon said.
“We welcome any information residents can give us: the location, the description, time, and anything else that can help us stop this dangerous behavior.”
“Often there are not registered so they don't follow the rules, and most of the time no safety gear is worn.”

Hearing other reports of people’s lawns torn up and reckless behavior around young children, Ms Venrooy is gobsmacked at their zero care factor and the lack of respect for people’s property.
“These kids that go out and do the wrong thing, it’s the ones who do have licences who will see the repercussions in the long term, it affects the kids involved in motocross and other sports,” Ms Venrooy said.
Reports indicate that Yenda is also having similar issues, with speeding a major concern for residents in the area.
