In challenging conditions, Coro won the toss and elected to bat with the Rand brothers Tim (9) and Rob (19) looking to get their side off to a flying start.
The pair were able to lay a solid foundation putting on 31 for the first wicket before both fell to the bowling of Ben Watts to have the Cougars on 2/44.
The fall of wickets brought the important players in captain Haydn Pascoe and inform young gun Dean Bennett to the crease, and they looked to build on their side’s solid start.
In the rising heat, Pascoe and Bennett boosted their score with a 58-run partnership for the third wicket before Bennett (30) fell to the bowling of Dom Brown (1/22) in the 18th over, Coro were well on their way to set a competitive total.
William Kennedy came out to join Pascoe, and the run rate was kicked along as Pascoe past the half-century mark while Kennedy was playing a handy supporting role, hitting 23 off 38 before he became Watts (3/35) third victim, but Coro had already put on 4/163 after 28 overs.
With two overs left Johnathon Morris (2) followed Kennedy back to the pavilion leaving Pascoe (68*) and William Dalton (5*) hitting late runs to see the Cougars finish their 30 overs on 5/180.
Diggers were able to make a solid start with Brown and Watts getting their side to 23 before Andrew Potter (1/27) picked up the wicket of Watts (14).
Trevor Richards joined Brown and kept their side moving forward to the tough total before the fall of Richards (15) was followed by Tom Valeri (3) and Brown (20) in quick succession to see Diggers fall to 4/59.
Captain Theo Valeri tried to lead from the front and with Jason Hampel (9) with him the pair put on 17 runs before Rob Rand (3/26) picked up Hampel and Matt Peruzzi (2) in quick succession.
Valeri (23) tried to keep his side in the match before he became Bennett’s second wicket of the day which saw Diggers requiring 82 runs off 39 deliveries.
Craig Lugton (31*) tried to give his side the best opportunity but when Luke Peruzzi (6) and Scott Miller (2) fell in a close time frame Diggers finished their 30 overs on 9/139 giving Coro a 41-run win.
