Watching her mother play, the 12-year-old realised piano was the way to go.
“My mum is a huge inspiration to me,” Andrea said.
“I always see people playing that I want to be like, and my piano teacher is also really amazing, so watching them inspires me to work hard and play like them.”
Her diverse range of favorite musicians means she enjoys the challenge of playing anything, and performs The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.
“I also have many other songs that I love to play, I just like the variety, you can play anything you like, the limit is endless.”
She enjoys playing the piano because she can forget the world and let it all go into the music.
“I feel that I can relax, and sometimes I get bored, and it makes me feel occupied.”
Heading to High School next year, Andrea thinks keeping up with her piano studies will help her keep it real.
While she doesn’t think following her passion for piano will be her career, it is most certainly something she will continue doing throughout her life.
“I can’t see myself being a professional musician. But I think that having a background in music is really helpful. I can just hop on there whenever and it’s the perfect way to unwind, it’s a very productive way to spend my time.”
“We had a recital at the end of the year, and I played two solo pieces and one duet, it was an amazing experience.”
Andrea said while playing solo is easier, the resulting sounds of playing duets is worth all the extra effort.
“I think it’s easier to play by yourself, because with duets you have to work out the timing, but you also get to play with people you don’t know, so it’s a challenge but it’s a good way to meet people.”
