Stephen was awarded the President’s Scholarship to study a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
He has already completed many NSW RFS internal training courses and regularly assists with the delivery of the Crew Leader, Rural Fire Driver and Village Fire Fighting programs.
By furthering his studies, Stephen hopes to take a lead role in the delivery of training and assessment in the MIA District.
“This certificate will enhance my skill set so I am able to be of greater assistance in the training group for my District as I would like to be even more involved,” said Stephen.
The NSW Rural Fire Service Association (RFSA), the representative association for the volunteers and staff of the NSW RFS, congratulate Stephen Woodham.
Mr Middleton thanked the community for their assistance in making the RFSA Professional Development Scholarships and other services possible.

“The people of NSW need to be thanked for purchasing tickets in the NSW RFSA raffles, with monies raised going towards the scholarship program, as well as, other support services focused on the Rural Fire Service volunteers throughout NSW.”
As part of their ongoing support for the state’s rural fire fighters, the RFSA provides annual scholarships for members who are considered to be outstanding representatives of both the NSW RFS and RFSA.
RFSA President Ken Middleton said the scholarships are awarded with the intent of enhancing the recipient’s professional and personal development to provide a higher level of service to the NSW RFS and the community of NSW.
Alongside the Professional Development Scholarships, the RFSA offers a wide range of other support initiatives to help members in their work protecting the community.
