“It’s such a place of growth”.
“There’s not many opportunities in Tasmania, but you can see why so many businesses are setting up in Griffith”.
Her goal is to start her own child care/kids entertainment-type business, and a TAFE certificate three course in early childhood education and care is the first step in her new career.
“The great thing about TAFE is it’s such a bridge to other things”, she said, including university study, work or starting your own business.
Emily left school in Year 10, and has been working ever since. She wants get a degree in child care, and TAFE provides a pathway for her to do that without having to go back to Year 11 and 12.
“A lot of 16 year olds don’t like school, but realise afterwards an education is important. That’s where TAFE can help”.
“I also noticed there’s not many places to rent here, so we’d also look to do some sort of accommodation service for backpackers… there’s just so much potential”.
TAFE NSW Griffith Campus opened its doors to future students for TAFE NSW Enrolment Week on Monday.
Those interested in studying can access information sessions and campus tours designed to showcase facilities and course offerings available.
The TAFE NSW Griffith team will be on hand to offer career advice, with opportunities to meet the teachers and chat with graduates who are now working in their chosen field.
“TAFE NSW offers over 1200 courses in a range of critical areas in-demand from industry and provides students with the training they need to secure a job,” TAFE NSW Regional General Manager, Kerry Penton said.
“At TAFE NSW, students can study when, where and what they want and are supported by a talented community of career advisors, counsellors and teachers.”
The campus will be open daily from 8.30am to 5pm and campus tours will be conducted throughout the week on demand.
