A chillingly close encounter for one young Griffith resident on Monday afternoon, after a thief broke into their home while they were there.

According to police, a young person was at a home in Dussin Street in Griffith around 2pm, and thought the mother was entering the house, when in reality it was an intruder.
A wallet containing personal papers was stolen, but luckily there was no confrontation between the thief and the resident.
Another break and enter on Monday afternoon saw quite a few expensive items stolen at around 7pm in the evening.
The unit on Wayeela Street was heavily ransacked, with a passport, laptops, a camera and a set of binoculars stolen.
Griffith police say the crime scene squad will attend the unit to examine the crime scene.
Police also attended a primary school in East Griffith after reports of a disturbance in the area.
Between 12am and 12.45 am Monday morning on Wakaden Street, the witnesses heard loud banging noises around the school’s buildings.
Two young males on scooters were seen in the area soon after, described as wearing dark hooded jumpers and shorts, and around the mid-teen age group.
Police allege the school’s canteen was broken into, however it appears nothing was stolen.
In other news, a Jeep Wagon has been completely destroyed after being set alight at around 4.00am on Sunday.
The owner left the vehicle at Rifle Range Road near Kalinda Road after getting a flat tire, with the intention of returning the next day to fix it.
