What a difference a day makes. After 43 degrees on Friday, a mild 28 degrees on Saturday resulted in a good field contesting a single stableford at Griffith Golf Club.

The in-form Alf Franchi won A Grade, carding 39 points and draining a birdie on the 4th, ahead of Jason Magoci, 37 points, shooting par 71.
Duncan McWhirter shot the lights out in taking out B Grade with 43 points, David Whitfield was second with 39 points.
John Dalton, 38 points, won C Grade from David Flood, 37 points.
Pro Pins were won by Garry Hartnett and Luke De Valentin. Par Threes were 4th, Alf Franchi, 7th Allan Bernard, 11th & 16th Jason Magoci. Vouchers went to 33 points on a countback.
Jason Magoci continued his good form in a two grade single stableford on Sunday. He fired a two under par 69 to take out 0-18 Grade on 39 points, two ahead of runner-up Brad Hammond, 37 points. Cody Stokes, 40 points, won 19-36 Grade on a countback over Rod McNabb, 40 points. Ian Smith won the 7th pin, Brad Hammond 16th. Vouchers went to 33 points on a countback.
Players in the Caltex 5s are reminded this competition started Monday, January 15. It is not too late to register, just contact the Pro Shop on 6962 3742.
Registration is $10 for each player and must be paid by the weekend.
The presentation night for the 2017 part of the competition will be held this Friday,evening at 7pm.
Players must have played at least six matches to attend the night for free.
Also this coming Friday, January 19, the postponed Six Holes at 6pm, par three, three person ambrose will be played. All holes are par threes. It is designed to be a family friendly competition. Adults pay $20, children under 18 are free. Entry includes a free barbecue and presentation after golf.

The veterans played a two grade single stableford last Thursday with 34 players.
Dave Gandy, 37 points, won 0-18 Grade over David Woodside, 36 points, on a countback over Tony McBride. Doug McWilliam, 38 points, won 19-36 Grade ahead of Bill Carter, 34 points, over John Brennick, 34 points.
Roy Calabria won both pins on the 7th and 16th; John F. Gale 4th. Vouchers went to 32 points. Thursday’s event is a single stableford.
A two grade single stableford last Wednesday attracted 30 players. Andrew Noad, 36 points, won 0-18 Grade with birdies on the 1st, and 7th. David Woodside was second with 34 points, draining a birdie on the 15th
Dino Battocchio, 36 points, returned to the winner’s circle, taking out 19-36 Grade – four point par on the 4th – ahead of Derek Langford 35 points, with four pars. Vouchers to 33 points.
