Member for Murray Austin Evans has announced $43,491 in funding for Griffith City Council to build a pontoon to improve safe access to the waterway for boaters.
The investment comes on the back of a renewed community push for a new outdoor pool.
Council’s grant is one of five, totalling $1.4 million across the Murray electorate for new jetties, boat ramps and other infrastructure.
Griffith Mayor John Dal Broi said the new pontoon would be something to be enjoyed by all.
“It has long been identified that more recreational facilities are needed at the lake,” he said.
“This is a perfect example of Council undertaking important improvement works that will be enjoyed by many people in the community."
While the lake is currently on amber alert with blue green algae, Cr Dal Broi said the Lake Wyangan and Catchment Management Committee are working to address the issue.

Mr Evans said the funding also helped to make waterways safer.
“In NSW, we have some of the finest waterways and each year more than two million people head out on the water on boats or other watercraft to enjoy the sun, catch a few fish or to spend time with family and friends,” Mr Austin said.
“The NSW Government is delivering these projects in the Murray electorate in partnership with local councils and other partners, to make water activities safer, easily accessible and more enjoyable.”
Murrumbidgee Council will also receive $450,000 for the installation of a new boat ramp, pontoon and car parking along the Murrumbidgee River.
Minister for Roads, Maritime and Freight Melinda Pavey said investment in infrastructure helps market regional NSW for tourists and locals alike.
“Boating is a key driver of tourism, right up and down the coast and at popular inland waterways, which is where many of the 73 new projects are located,” Mrs Pavey said.
“The program also supports the new Maritime Safety Plan by improving safe access to waterways.”
