The luncheon, which had a waiting list for tickets, was fully subscribed with 52 diners being treated to a 9 course degustation meal which was carefully matched with Yarran Wines.
This sold out event was the brainchild of friends Vicki Wade and Andrea Jordan, who wanted to mix their love of food and wine, with a fundraising event where the proceeds would go to support local charity the Griffith Branch of Can Assist.
This was the third Long Slow Degustation Fundraising Luncheon held at Yarran Wines and again, with the beautiful weather on the day, the venue was perfect. The meal focused on local produce where possible, including Murray cod donated by Pioneer Butchery Yenda, asparagus donated by S and E Piva and mushrooms donated by Tyson Beer (Mycoterra) which were crafted into a delicious, innovative and inspired 9 course menu complete with palate cleansers and other surprise dishes throughout the afternoon.
The team of ten who created, prepared, cooked, served and hosted the luncheon were all volunteers.
An online auction formed the basis of the fundraising with frantic bidding just before the auction closed at 2pm at the luncheon adding excitement and atmosphere.
The big ticket items which included 4 tickets to the Medallion Club at Etihad Stadium, 3 nights’ accommodation in a Melbourne Collins St apartment, 3 nights in a holiday house in Bright in NE Victoria, dinner for 4 at Limone, a half day food and wine tour with Bella Vita tours and a curated dinner for 6 to be provided by Vicki and Andrea in the successful bidders own home were all successfully sold. A beautiful hamper donated by Riverna Grove was the lucky door prize and a continuous raffle and sponsorship from Gifts 4 Locals added to the fundraising goal.
Other sponsors include AxiChem, Baiada, Palla St Therapies, Fresh Body Health & Fitness, B&D Workwear, DeBortoli Wines, McWilliams Wines, Casella Wines, Opulent Hair Boutique and Coles.
We would like to publicly thank all the businesses and individual’s who supported this event.
