The mercury hit 43c right on run time which would explain why only 60 Ferals made it to the start line for the 3rd of the summer social runs.

The aim of the social runs is exactly that. Be social. Joggers are sent off in groups, each one 2 minutes apart, and try to keep together for the entire course. It is not a race, just the chance to socialise with other joggers who you may not have had the opportunity to run with before. If a Feral wants to speed ahead then that’s OK but they can expect to join a faster group the following week!
This week saw the long course runners get it together and keep it social, unlike a lot of the short course entrants who were spread across the field. No awards this week in the short course, just a few group changes for next week for not being social!
The 16 minute group were this week’s most social group. Well, that's if you can call their running pace "social"! Aidan Fattore, Adam Johnson and Mark Andreazza all put in blistering times and appeared unaffected by the searing heat.
The 12 minute group did pretty well considering there were 13 of them. Led by this week’s team captain Steven Bourke, some of this group struggled in the heat but in general they kept it together. Rodney Savage has found a new home in this 12 minute group.
Known for his speed on the hill and at the bar, Rodney dropped back to the 12 minute group due to injury and seems to be loving the social aspect of these runs and is not missing the punishing runs of his previous 16 minute group.
