Living in the country and being without a license isn’t just socially isolating, it can make it difficult to find work. Luckily, a new group will be coming to Griffith to help combat this.
The Birrang Learner Driver Program has been supporting Indigenous and disadvantaged people in country NSW in getting their driver’s licence for over 10 years.

They will be in Griffith running sessions over five weeks starting January 16. They will be open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9am – 1pm.
Birrang’s Pete White said the program had a range of services available.
“It’s makes it so much easier for different people to get a job. It really frees a lot of people up. It can change their plans for the future,” he said.
“We can help people get their licenses, doing practice RTA tests. We can also offer free lessons to those in need.”
He says it’s all about building up skills and confidence levels.
“We can build a bit of confidence and let them know what is required for them to pass their tests.”
Birrang will be set up at Summit Employment and Training at 86 Yambil Street. For more information or to join the program call 0419 132 347 or (02) 6361 9511 or email reception@birrang.com.au
