A tragic Christmas Day fatality near Beelbangera has prompted a fresh push for caution when driving this holiday period.

The driver of a NSW registered Nissan Sedan is yet to be identified, after the vehicle collided with a power pole and pump station near Beelbangera, in the early hours of the morning.
However, Griffith police chief inspector John Wadsworth said “with relative certainty” the man was not believed to be from the Riverina.
It appears the driver was travelling north along the road when the incident occured.
The incident has added to a heartbreaking 375 deaths on NSW roads for 2017- a higher toll than this time last year, according to Transport for NSW.
“Please be careful on the roads,” Inspector Wadsworth said.

Police have confirmed one person has lost their life in a single vehicle incident near Beelbangera in the early hours of Christmas morning.
It was discovered a car had hit a power pole, following reports of a power outage. .
The incident occurred on Rankin Springs Road, near the intersection of Fowler Road.
Police believe the driver was travelling north along the road when he collided with the power pole and a pump station.
The vehicle is a NSW registered Nissan Sedan and the occupant is yet to be identified.
A crime scene has been established and traffic diversions are in place.
As a result of the crash, power has been cut to the area and efforts are underway to have the power restored.
Police are requesting people avoid the area and follow the diversions put in place.
