To celebrate the holiday season, two Griffith groups have come together to give back. Southside Leagues are encouraging the community to get behind their Carevan Christmas Tree.
Residents are encouraged to buy a gift for a child to place under the tree, located in the club’s main reception.
The Club’s Marketing & Promotions Manager Brittany Alpen said the response had been great.
“In the middle of November the staff decided to put together a Christmas tree. We’ve collected about 10 boxes so far,” she said.
“We wanted to do something with a local charity. We couldn’t go past Carevan.”
All proceeds from the tree will be donated to children at the Carevan Christmas party on December 20.
Carevan’s Janice Satore said the donations had come as a lovely surprise.
“They’ve done a wonderful thing by organising it and doing that for us. The generosity of people has been amazing. We wanted to thank everyone who donated. These gifts will bring so much joy to people.”
The Carevan Christmas party will take place on December 20 at 5:30pm at Dave Taylor Park.
