It’s also a great chance to support Griffith businesses.
Farrer MP Sussan Ley encourages residents to get out there and support small business this holiday season.
“One of the great benefits of a large and diverse electorate like ours is the wonderful variety of stores and businesses I get to drop into and snap up a unique gift or bargain,” Ms Ley said.
“We need to encourage and nurture small business operators - they are taking risks, providing employment growth and opportunities for others within our towns and cities.”

Around 1900 small to medium-size local businesses operate throughout Griffith and Yenda.
“Absolutely one of the best ways to ensure retail competition and improve the prospects of our local small businesses is to support them at the till during the Christmas and summer holiday season.”
According to the Office of the Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman, small businesses account for 33 per cent of Australia’s GDP.
They currently employ more than 40 per cent of the national workforce.
Griffith Business Chamber President Paul Pierotti also encouraged the community to shop Griffith, spend in Griffith, eat local and enjoy everything about the town.
“Business is the backbone to society and we must continue to support them where possible to ensure they can thrive”, Mr Pierotti said.
Spending money in the MIA means it’s kept within the community. It’s estimated that nine in 10 Australian businesses are classified as small businesses.
Chamber of Commerce Vice President Josh Nadzielski said Griffith offers shoppers a unique experience.
“Shopping local keeps the business in the town, ” Mr Nadzielski said.
“We have some great stores and boutique shops that you just wouldn’t be able to get online.”
Chamber of Commerce Vice President and Griffith entrepreneur Katie Luncantonio says residents’ support has an ongoing effect.
“It keeps the local economy going, there’s a flow on effect. If we all support our community it allows us to grow together. Business owners put so much time and effort into service. It supports their hard work.”
