IT WAS a big weekend of competitions at the Griffith Golf Club, beginning with the monthly medal single stroke on Saturday which was also the Gold Medal playoffs in each grade for players who had won a medal over the previous season. Anthony Ross won A Grade gold medal on 68 nett, Graeme Trevett won B Grade and John Harrison 73 nett won C Grade on a countback over Paul Josling.

Ross also won A Grade event of the day carding 68 nett, draining birdies on the 8th and 15th, ahead of Brad Lemon, 70, a birdie on the 15th, firing 76 off the stick. Bryan Salvestro, 70, won B Grade with a brace of birdies on the 3rd, 6th and 9th. Grant Keily, 71, second, shooting 89. Steve Marland 72 nett won C Grade, ahead of Charlie Jones 73 nett.
Pro Pins won by Bryan Salvestro and Anthony Ross. Par Threes, 7th Don Catanzariti, 11th and 16th Martin Sweeney. Vouchers to 75 nett.
Sunday’s event was a single stableford and also the playoff day for players who had played to their handicap on a Dollar Day. Winners of a free cub membership was Brett Jones 38 points and two members won half memberships - Brad Lemon and Gary Hartnett on 37.
In the event of the day, Wayne Tyndall, 39, won A Grade ahead of Brad Lemon, 37, nailling a birdie on the 17th. Andrew Kidd, 40, won B Gradee, 85 off the stick from Brad Hardwick, 38. Cody Stokes, 40, best in C Grade on a countback from Skeet Milne, 40. John Harrison won the 7th pin, Luke DeValentin 11th. Vouchers went to 34 points.
The Riverina Liftek 27 Holes Foursomes Championships will be played this Sunday. Saturday’s event is a single stroke which is also the annual ham and Christmas cake day, a single stableford today.
The veterans played a single stableford in three grades last Thursday. Brad Fawcett, 38, won 0-18 Grade ahead of Roy Calabria, 37. The 19-27 Grade was won by James Browne, 34, Dave Henderson, 31, second.
Mike Hedditch, 36, won 28-36 Grade from Graeme Bamford, 31. Dave Gandy won the 4th pin, Ian Smitth 16th. Vouchers went to 31 points on a countback.
Another single stableford last Wednesday. James Lethlean, 38, won 0-18 Grade, firing one under par 70, nailing birdies on the 2nd, 6th, 10th, 15th and 16th. Matt Hallam, 38, last the countback, a birdie on the 3rd. James Browne, 36, won 19-36 Grade, draining birdies on the 4th and 7th, Peter DenHouting, 34, second. Vouchers to 31 on a countback.
LADIES: December 6: 19 ladies played stableford in two divisions. Div 1: Liz Graham, 35, from Denise Turner 34. Div 2: Julie McWilliam, 35, from Val Browne, 32. Ball Comp: seven balls were won with a score of 28.
Saturday: 20 ladies played stableford in two divisions. Div 1: Kathy King 32 on a countback from Rose Alpen. Div 2: Dulcie Knight, 34 from Val Browne, 33. Ball Comp: eight balls were won with a score of 29 points or better required.
