Griffith/Coleambally played the final of the Pennants against the strong L&D team. The team of Maria Sosso (skip), Cathie Elliott, Judie Saddler and Mary Mogliotti played well together to defeat Hilary's team 27-11. Thanks Mary for playing so Marlene O'Connell could be the controlling body. Rene Wade, Pam Jukes, Evelyn Coster and Rhonda Villata played good bowls but were beaten by two shots.
The final score was 40-26. Griffith/Coleambally won 2017 pennants 16 1/2 against Leeton Soldiers Club 10 1/2. Rene did a great job as captain, winning so convincingly in her first year. It was good having Coleambally playing with Griffith this year.
Jukes played all the games, Margaret Irvine played against Leeton Soldiers and Coster played against L&D. This is the first time the current Griffith lady bowlers have won in Murrumbidgee and are very excited to have progressed to regional.
On Saturday about half the usual number of bowlers turned up because of the weather. Mark Jaffery and Elliott came away winners on 27 points, one ahead of Andy Hughes and Paul Huxley.
