IT IS one thing to establish a new business, it is another to find the core staff that can step up and lead that business to success from a standing start.
The team at JJ Farm Equipment brings a wealth of experience in each member’s field and have come together under managing director Justin James to form a formidable unit in a short period of time.
Justin used the experience of some of his agricultural industry contacts to work out what it was he would need in his team.
“I went and saw mates who were farmers, to find out who they wanted to deal with and a couple of names cropped up,” he said.
Through word of mouth, the business secured key experienced staff members.
“Their knowledge, expertise, they bring all that,” Justin said.
Other than Justin himself, there are four staff members – parts manager Ross Smith, service manager Danny Witton, service technician Corey Stenhouse, and administration and accounts officer Marni Trevett.
While they are all highly experienced, Justin said a more important factor was the attitude and approach of each staff member.
“The other thing I was looking for, after 15 years repping and visiting businesses, I saw that the ones that succeed have a good culture,” he said. “It didn't matter what size the dealership, those with the right culture were those with the most success and the least amount of staff turnover.”
