IT WAS a stroke of luck that led to JJ Farm Equipment being located on the main road between Griffith and Yoogali.
With not many obvious sites available and a lack of greenfield industrial development, managing director Justin James was at a loss as to where he could site the new business.
However, it was a case of being in the right place at the right time that meant hearing through word of mouth of a possible location that might be available.
“When things like that happen, you think you’ve got a win and heading in the right direction,” Justin said.
That location was 140 Mackay Avenue, the home of D&D Machinery.
D&D Machinery still works out out of the location, but only utilises a small area of the premises.
JJ Farm Machinery operates out of the rest of the building and workshop, giving it access to a large indoor display and retail area, undercover outdoor display area and large secure display yard.
“We are the only store - at this time - where you can drive a machine into the showroom,” Justin said. “You can look at the gear inside, it doesn’t matter if it’s raining.
"We've added a large agricultural landscape print on the wall to break up the monotony of just another machinery dealership which people have really been impressed with.
“We have tried to make it more of a retail shop. We have most parts available for everything we sell.”
The retail space has display shelving and floor space room for smaller equipment to be displayed.
A large parts counter is at the back of the room while the “Bunker” – an administration hub – sits in the centre of the space.
There is a customer service area with couches, a TV, brochure display walls and a small table to sit around.
“People can grab brochures, watch videos of machines,” Justin said. “It’s a place to be comfortable.”
Customers can also make use of the CLAAS interactive experience, which immerses them in a virtual reality cabin so they have a better idea of what it is like using CLAAS machinery.
Customer parking is available out the front of the premises and off the busy road, which allows ease of access.
