10-year-old Mia Ippoliti spends time watching the fastest violin players on YouTube, and certainly got the passion to achieve this level of proficiency one day.
“I would definitely love to play like them one day, hearing them, it just sounds so good,” she said.
Mia has a wide and varied taste in music, which makes it difficult for her to choose her favorite song of the moment, but she currently enjoys playing the ‘May Song,’ which she performs for us in the video below.
Mia was born with music in her blood, with many musicians in her fathers side of the family, including her 86-year-old Nonno who still plays the piano-accordion.
Her brother and sister have also been an inspiration to her.
“My brother Joshua and my sister Lauren both play guitar, and watching and hearing them play made me want to learn something like that, something challenging.”
Mia started learning violin at the start of the year, and has almost finished Book One of the Suzuki method of music learning.
She enjoys playing with other performers, and has already been in a number of concerts, not only for violin, but for singing as well.
“I love performing with other people, and especially playing with people I know, but I also like getting to meet other people who play.”
He mum hopes she will learn to play like the Dixie Chicks, as they are her favorite band.
“I love playing the violin. Its a challenge, it’s fun, and I will definitely keep playing!”
Every week The Area News will be dedicating an article to a budding young musician to celebrate Griffith’s home-grown talent. If you know a primary school student who plays an instrument and would like to see them featured here, please email jacinta.dickins@fairfaxmedia.com.au.
