After winning the toss and electing to bat, Coro made a great start through Rob Rand (8) and Dean Bennett. The pair put on an opening stand of 43 with the fall of Rand before Tim Rand came to the crease and kept the scoring ticking over.
After a 65-run Tim Rand (20) was the next to fall after he was caught and bowled by Hanwood captain Dean Cantanzariti (2/42), but again the wicket did little to slow the momentum from the Cougars as Bennett kept his head down as he pushed towards a milestone.
Coro captain Haydn Pascoe (13) and Bennett put on a 41-run partnership before Pascoe became Catanzariti’s second victim.
Another decent partnership between Johnathon Morris (14) and Bennett saw the score push past 187 before Morris was dismissed by Charlie Cunial (4/48).
Coro would lose two quick wickets before deciding to declare with Cunial picking William Dalton (1) with Bennett joining him five runs later but not after he was able to score 130 off 133 deliveries as the Cougars finished on 6/202 off 45 overs.
In reply, Hanwood made a good start with Catanzariti (8), and Brad Hornery (4) putting on an opening stand of 18 before Andrew Potter (1/17) struck to remove Hornery.
Micheal Crosato (15) and Catanzariti kept their side in the chase with a 24-run partnership before Alex Flood (1/23) removed Catanzariti.
The loss of two quick wickets in Luke Shannon (3) and Crosato looked to derail the innings before Cunial (11) and Jamie Whitworth (14) looked to stabilise the innings.
However, after Cunial was dismissed by Pascoe (2/13) and Whitworth following 11 runs later to the bowling of Sam Hutchinson (3/32) saw Hanwood lose three wickets for four runs.
James Cimador (6) was the only other batsmen to trouble the scorers as Bennett (3/12) backed up his performance with the bat to picked up the final two wickets to give Coro a 98-run first inning win.
