Murray has been named as the Thunder Rookie this season.

It is only a year after Rachel Trenaman took the role, before being elevated to the playing squad this season. 

Murray will spend a week with the Thunder in the lead up to the Big Bash.

She’s looking forward to learning as much as she can, especially from her idol in Blackwell.

Coming from the same area, Blackwell is someone Murray really looks up to.

"She’s from Yenda, which is near my home town," the 17-year-old said.

"Too see someone from this area can really make it up there.”

“She's a veteran in the sport.

“Even though she’s mainly a batter her character and everything has really inspired me.”

Murray believes it is good to have such pathways for budding cricketers in regional areas to gain experience at the top level.
