The competition doubles as selection trials for the Murrumbidgee Rangers side that will take on Southern Riverina Vipers, Border Bullets and Wagga Wagga Sloggers at Exies Oval in early November.
Griffith captain Haydn Pascoe said his side is looking forward to the new concept.
“We will be taking it pretty seriously,” he said.
“Talking to the coach (Murrumbidgee) and they are a few guys who will be getting a look in.”
Teams from West Wyalong, Ardlethan/Barellan, Lake Cargelligo, Hay and Leeton will make the trip to Exies oval and heading into the competition Pascoe knows who they will have to be on the lookout for.
“West Wyalong, who we play in our second game should have a pretty strong outfit with a couple of good players,” he said.

“Leeton usually have a pretty good side as well.”
The captain is hoping that the concept is a success given the rise of cricket quickest format.
“Twenty20 is starting to become a bigger thing around here,” he said.
“It’s a good concept to start the season with before we play our own Twenty20 competition later in the year.”
The Griffith side will look to bring in some younger players to take bigger roles this weekend.
“The majority of the side will be sort of younger guys,” he said.
“Even with that, it should be a good mix of youth and experience.”
