The money, totaling $7543.22, was raised by Triple M Radio station, and was presented to the Griffith Base Hospital Auxiliary Board on Wednesday.

Run by Triple M, the money was raised for the charity ‘Give me 5 for kids’, which is Southern Cross Austereo’s annual charity drive.

President of the Griffith Base Hospital’s Auxiliary Board Bruna Ross and Treasurer Louisa Feltracco accepted the check on behalf of the board.

“We thank everyone, and we thank Triple M for all the help over the years, and it means so much, every bit helps,” Ms Feltracco said.

Tactics and Promotions Coordinator for Southern Cross Austereo Samantha Gatto was thrilled to present the cheque.

“We have been overwhelmed by the generosity and the increased support from the Griffith community,” Ms Gatto said.

“We’d like to thank everyone who donated and went to our various events. We’d also like to thank all the businesses who helped us achieve this.”

It’s been another successful year for “Give Me 5 for Kids” with over $7500 raised, bringing the total over five years of fundraising to more than an impressive $30,000.

There were several fundraising efforts contributing to the final donation, including a raffle with the chance to win a $7000 Shopping Spree, and the popular Vaccari’s Pies’ annual Pie Day Friday, which saw $1 for every one of their 1500 pies sold going towards the cause.

The “Come’n’Try day held by the Griffith Kart Club also saw another $1500 raised.

Give Me 5 for Kids is Southern Cross Austereo’s national fundraiser which has been supporting and raising funds for local children’s hospital wards across regional Australia for the last 20 years.

All of the money raised goes directly towards the purchase of lifesaving equipment and to help provide the local community with aid and support to sick children and their families.
