The exhibition is grounded in the notion that an understanding of ‘place’, and the environments an individual inhabits, are essential parts of the creative practice of artists and crafts people.
Artworks imbued with a sense of place convey a depth of meaning reflecting our essential human experience, while providing the viewer with a transcendent experience.

Griffith Regional Art Gallery Coordinator Ray Wholohan said once again the creative and artistic community of Griffith and surrounds have not failed to impress.
“We have received over 50 stunning entries from our talented local artists and crafts people into Land. Home. Country,” Mr Wholohan said.

“Patrons attending the exhibition opening … (were) presented with a visual feast ranging from the traditional fine arts such as painting, drawing, and sculpture to contemporary disciplines such as video art and contemporary Jewellery and furniture design.
“If you are looking to expand your current art collection or are thinking about developing one and want to invest in some art from our talented region, this exhibition is a must see.”
Griffith Regional Art Gallery will be supporting the exhibition with a participatory forum – which will include workshops in en plein air painting, textiles – including weaving and sculptural felting, carving and water colours.
Raina Savage, Manager Griffith Regional Theatre and Art Gallery said the community art exhibition is a very important part of our calendar.
“We have developed the forum to allow local people to immerse themselves more deeply into the concepts of home and place ...” Ms Savage said.
