Griffith feral joggers

Bronwyn Sigmund continued her run of faces and aces to get to an almost unbeatable lead in the Arsova short course pointscore with the Griffith Joggers on Scenic Hill on Saturday, but it was Donna Jackson throwing a joker on the table who won the pot this week.

We are not sure what she's up to, maybe she enjoys the heat of summer, but she is way too far off the final jackpot.

Despite leaving the table for two of the six rounds Sigmund has a handy twenty point lead and the next most likely was a no-show this week ... talk about passing on your top trump … anyone wanting to outbid her will want to hope she finds an 'away event' in the final weeks.

Sandy Salton played well for third in a tight finish that saw second to sixth cross the line over just ten seconds, one spot to Angus Gunn, one spot to Lisa Croce, a few more to Hamish Gunn with the fastest of the day, and Ella Savage was also fastest and made the top ten.

John Farronato had to run fast for top ten and then keep running for a wedding appointment, so he got his priorities right.

There were also plenty of ace performances in the long course, Aidan Fattore again overtook the entire field for first, and fastest of the competition with his 20:12 for the 5.4 kilometres.

Narelle Lagergren was second and fastest on the day and only seven seconds off her best, and Gary Andreazza finished third and determined to hold onto the pointscore kitty.

Mark Andreazza was equal third, with an impressive second best time of the entire competition, but might have been sent to bed without supper for trying to beat pop.

Roy Binks at sixth is still in the long game and knows how to hold.

There are only four runs left in this Joggers year.  Simon Fattore has the Wardle Waddle in hand barring a wild card, the Joggers Dinner plans are being finalised, trophies are being collected and engraved, the Shanks' Pony Cup is being organised, and the new year's calendar is ready and will be online any day now.

There are thirteen unlucky runners who haven't yet, but still can, win the Franks Service Centre / Flexible Solutions complementary water bottle before the year closes.

If you are one of these (see the Wardle Waddle count on the website) then come along and play these next few weeks.

The Joggers run from the water tower on Scenic Hill every Saturday at 4:30pm, the current choice is 5.4 kilometre Long or 3.3 kilometre Short, be early to register.
