Police commenced a pursuit of a Nissan Patrol about 1.50pm after spotting the stolen vehicle travelling between Hay and Balranald.
Road spikes were deployed at several locations and the Nissan’s tyres were punctured as it entered the Darlington Point area.
The occupants – and man and a woman – dumped the car and fled on foot.
Officers pursued the offenders but they were able to escape.
Inspector Paul Huggett of the Deniliquin Local Area Command said police seized a large number of items that will be forensically examined in a bid to identify the vehicle’s occupants.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
