Twelve-year-old Jasper Moon has been selected to be a part of the 2017 FIM Oceania Junior MX Challenge Australian Team.
The challenge will be the battle ground for Australia and New Zealand’s best up and coming talent.
“I was pretty proud to be selected, it was very surprising,” Jasper said.
The week-long event will play host to international hopefuls, defending champions and a huge pool of talent testing their skills.
The country with the highest overall team score will be deemed the winners of the Oceania Challenge.
Jasper has been racing since he was seven and it has always been what he wanted to do.
“When I’m racing, I just feel so happy, but I also feel very serious. It feels really good when I finish first.”
The MX lifestyle is very demanding, and Jasper throws himself into his training enthusiastically, running four kilometers with 100 push-ups and sit-ups every morning before school, rides every afternoon and workouts out with his coach Jeff Charmers.
Jasper’s mother and father, Alicia and Paul Moon are both incredibly proud of their son.
“We are very proud of where he is, the level of commitment he’s shown, he is very dedicated and passionate, and we are so excited for him,” Alicia said.
Jasper already has a number of titles under his belt, and has recently ridden in Gippsland Motocross Championships in Victoria, where he placed First in A Grade for 65cc and Second in A Grade 85cc.
He has also competed with podium finishes in Victorian and NSW Titles, as well as local competitions at the Leeton Motorcycle Club, just to name a few.
Jeff Charmers, Jasper’s coach, has high hopes for the young rising star, and estimates he will do well in the upcoming Challenge.

“I’m so proud, he has put in a lot of work and works harder than anyone else his age, he’s definitely going to be up there,” Charmers said.
Jasper has his eyes set on the American Titles for the future, and has plans to continue racing professionally throughout the remainder of his school years and after he finishes.
