The event was a fundraiser for Griffith Suicide Prevention and Support Group, Hanwood Rural Fire Brigade, Kalinda School and PCYC Griffith.
Organiser Michelle Parr was blown away by the response. The event attracted a lot of support from friends and local businesses alike.
“Everyone looks great … The community response has been really good,” she said.
The idea for the run first came to her after taking her daughters to a similar event in Bateman’s Bay.
“I figured that I know a lot of people and I’ve lived here all my life, so why not try it? I love organising these events.”
With one of the charities dealing directly with mental health, Michelle says that she hoped the event was able to contrast the darkness that is often associated with depression.
“There’s a high rate of suicide. It’s close to a lot of people’s hearts. Depression is a dark place. Today is about colour and happiness. I wanted to add to people’s happiness,” she said.

Jordan Robins, who finished in first place, says that he ran because the causes were ones that plenty of people could relate to.
“This is always something we should bring awareness for. Everyone feels a little down sometimes, but there’s always someone there to help,” he said.
“I feel tired after the run, but I’m happy that I won.”
This is the second year of the fun run. Last year the event raised $13,500 for three local charities.
