The celebrations on September 23 will see the school open, with memorabilia on display in the classrooms, as well as an official ceremony with current students performing for all the visitors.
There will also be a dinner dance on the night at 6.30pm, which Principal Leanne McWhirter encourages the community to attend.
“We’ve had about 70 reservations for the dinner dance but we are hoping to get to the 100 mark,” she said.
Past principals are coming including Larry Micevski, as well as past staff members and lots of past students, and everyone is looking forward to seeing familiar faces and names from honour boards and photos all grown up.
“Ms Doyle who was a teacher here in the 1940’s and she’s now aged 92, and she came and spoke with the children about her experiences when she taught here, and it was lovely,” Ms McWhirter said.
“It’s exciting to be a part of it all, and we are looking forward to meeting a lot of the past students, reconnecting, reuniting and reminiscing about the days at Yoogali Public school.”
Anthony Edwards has been teaching the students throughout the term and promoting the Aboriginal culture through dance, which will kick off performances with the theme ‘traveling back through time’.

“In the 1950’s there were a lot of Italian migrants who came, and the school was used as a language school for new arrivals in the evenings… so we’ve also incorporated the Italian song and dance into the performances as well,” Ms McWhirter said.
If you would like to attend the Dinner Dance, reservations are open until Friday September 15 and tickets can be purchased from Yoogali Public School during business hours or Pat Zirilli's Amcal Chemist.
