The Children's Book Council of Australia Book Week officially started on Monday, with the theme 'Escape to Everywhere'.
Event orgainser Caitlin Hart, was pleased with the many Harry Potter costumes, as the fictional world of Harry Potter is one everyone can escape to.
There was a costume parade at 12:30pm where students from each class shared how their costume related to this year's theme.
A special mention is given to Daniella Sergi from Year 2 for describing her Count Olaf costume from ‘A Series of Unfortunate Events’ with the following original poem:
"I know I look a little peculiar this may be true but let me tell you a series of unfortunate events that have brought me to you.
“I may not be the kindest person you will ever see because I'm after the fortune of the Baudelaire Three.
“Violet, Klaus and Sunny lost their parents in a fire, now their situation is looking a little dire for I will not give up until I get my hands on the money and this is where things get a bit funny.”
Book week runs from Saturday August 19 until Saturday August 26, so stay tuned for more book week fun from schools around Griffith.
