The book pays tribute to the “multicultural food bowl of Australia” of Griffith in a moving eight verse poem the chronicles the 100 year history of the town.
The poem is a colourful way of learning interesting facts about Griffith:
The wine citrus took off with a rush
One is five glasses of wine consumed in Australia comes from here
And the whole Irrigation Area was now looking so lush
Another fascinating rhyme chronicles the life story of “The Goolgowi Legend”, Tommy Smith, leading trainer of thoroughbred racehorses and father of Gai Waterhhouse, who was raised in the small town.
Books are available for sale at Griffith Tourist Information Centre and Hillston Tourist Information Session.
