The big news of the morning was the breakthrough win by the Ladybirds team – they went close last week and this week cracked it their first win in nearly two seasons together. Well done to the girls, who have shown us what you can achieve when you enjoy what you are doing and stick at it. Congratulations also to their coach Noah, who has worked very hard to bring the girls along.
Coro Club A Grade swung into action after lunch, and there were some close results. In the Tonann Diamonds Pinnacle HPC game, Tonann came out firing and skipped out to a 6 goal lead at the end of the first quarter.
By three quarter time Pinnacle had done well to claw their way back into the game trailing by just three, but Tonann held on to win and take the 3 points. This puts Tonann on equal points with Fresh Health and Fitness / Masters of Hair and heading for the finals. In the other Coro A Grade game ES Sprightly held off the vastly improved Rep 15 girls by 30-28.
ES Sprightly found themselves down at half time by two, but an excellent third quarter saw them sink 11 goals to Reps four which was enough to turn the game and allow ES Sprightly to hold on in the fourth quarter to take the win and retain top spot on the A Grade ladder.
Ill Corso B Grade featured some important match ups as well, but the results were not so close in this division. Not the Princesses again took the court drastically undermanned with just five players and Griffith Motor Group took full advantage, winning 52-16.
Deadlies, needing to win to make the four, took on top placed DeBortolis, losing by 10. With Not the Princesses finishing the regular season with the bye and a gift 3 points, this will see Deadlies miss the finals despite some good results late in the season.
In MIA Coaches C Grade, the top four all registered wins to cement their places in the finals. SPS/Doms/Bowmans leads the way from Dreamers, Big Chicks and The Force.
