Having been the form side all season having only dropped two points all season, the Whites knew they only needed a point to secure the title when they took on Hanwood Blue at Coro Club Oval.
The side didn’t need to settle for just a point as they walked away convincing 8-0 winners.
Two goals from Daniel Johnson and Kyle Greaves as well as contributions from Andrew Gamble, Philip Middlemiss and Michael Cimador made the difference for Hanwood White.
Coach Jason Bertacco was pleased with the performance his side showed heading into finals.
“We were pretty happy with the whole game really,” he said.
“In the first half, the boys came out with a real professional display and moved the ball around.
“Obviously the other boys were undermanned today, so it made it hard for them.
“A few boys were coming back from injuries so it was good to get minutes into our squad and it was good for them to get minutes into their squad as well.”
While his side has been the form side of the competition, Bertacco knows the finals will be a different beast entirely.
“The regular season is done, and we have the prize of minor premiers which the boys really deserve,” he said.
“They have had a great run in the State Cup and through the whole year so to get minor premiers with the amount of work they have been doing in games and everything I'm happy for them.
“Now we have to lift our intensity a lot more because it is a totally different game.”
The side also managed to keep a clean sheet in the final game before finals which was a pleasing goal to reach for Bertacco.
“We put a big emphasis on our defensive side of things,” he said.
“The main thing today was to get the clean sheet, so that is a big positive for our boys.
“We brought it up before the game and at half time that that was our main goal and we were able to get that, so it is good.”
The coach finished by praising the effort his boys showed on the ball as they looked to move forward.
“They trusted each other and just moved the ball quick,” he said.
