"The divorce is off," a 'source' told the magazine. "They haven't done anything to move it forward for several months and no one thinks they are ever going to."

Neither Jolie's or Pitt's representatives have made any official statement about the alleged reconciliation.

Filing for divorce after two years of marriage on the grounds of "irreconcilable differences," the power couple's amicable split soon turned into a feud with Jolie requesting sole physical custody of their kids, allowing Pitt visitation rights.

It was alleged at the time that Pitt's behaviour was at the centre of the divorce, after he was investigated by the FBI over child abuse allegations involving their son, Maddox. He was later cleared.

Pitt responded to the filing by asking for joint physical custody of their six children, Maddox Jolie-Pitt, 16, Pax Jolie-Pitt, 13, Zahara Jolie-Pitt, 12, Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, 11, and twins Knox Jolie-Pitt and Vivienne Jolie-Pitt, 9. In December, a temporary custody agreement was reached. Jolie remained the children's custodian and Pitt had "therapeutic visitation rights," which coincided with his agreed upon weekly individual therapy sessions and random drug and alcohol testing participation.

While the validity of the US Weekly's claims are unknown, there have been some hints that the pair may reunite in the past few months.

"He got sober to try and win her back," the source told US Weekly. "He knew he had a problem that he had to take care of. And that's all she ever wanted."

In a May interview with GQ, Pitt spoke candidly about getting sober to help solve his parental shortcomings. In the interview the 53-year-old admitted his drinking habits were so strong he "could drink a Russian under the table with his own vodka."

"I grew up with a Father-knows-best/war mentality- the father is all powerful, super strong - instead of really knowing the man and his own self-doubt and struggles," Pitt told the publication.

"And it's hit me smack in the face with our divorce: I gotta be more for them. I have to show them. And I haven't been great at it."

"We're all just healing from the events that led to the filing . . . They're not healing from divorce. They're healing from some . . . from life, from things in life," she told the magazine.

While remaining "unmoved" by questions about Pitt, the 42-year-old said the pair are working towards common goals for the sake of their children, despite their differences.

"We care for each other and care about our family, and we are both working towards the same goal."

She also told BBC's Yalda Hakim in Cambodia that focusing on her children was her main coping mechanism.

"My focus is my children, our children, and my focus is finding this way through and as I said we are and forever will be a family and so that is my, that is how I am coping."

The Maleficent star recently moved into a $25 million Los Angeles home with her six children, an adjustment she told Vanity Fair was a "big jump forward for us."
