In other news from late-July 1967, $6,000 was stolen from Griffith Leagues Club and three people died when a light aircraft crashed over Narrandera.
Forty years ago this week more than 6000 people braved biting cold to attend an ecumenical service paying tribute to missing Griffith business man Don Mackay. On the same day, a $1 million reward was offered for information to help solve the case.
Also featuring in the papers this week in 1977 was a front page letter in Italian by Father Ralph Beltrame – “Appello per la comunita Italiana”.
