Stalwart Griffith resident Peter Knox voices these concerns saying “it’s not too late to change”, after battling with the council for many years in regards to the park.
“It’s just throwing good money after bad” Mr Knox said.
“This skateboard complex is only a few years old and built in the wrong place by the Griffith City Council in the first place”
Mr Knox says his problem is not with the park design itself, which he recognises as an excellent initiative for WCMX, BMX and skaters of all ages, but instead with the allocation of funds and the location of the park.
“There is next to no parking at the current location, and I frequently drive past there worried about children running across the road, especially with the heavy traffic in the area,” he said.
“A more sensible solution to this ongoing mistake and instead of throwing away more ratepayers money on something built only a decade ago, is to make provision for a new outdoor shaded pool complex with provision for an underground parking at the old huge showground.”
“Grants should be sought from the local Member Susan Ley for a new outdoor pool at the Showground,”
“Holbrook and Henty near her Albury end of the electorate have been successful with grants for millions of dollars for upgrading of their outdoor Public Outdoor Pools, as has other parts of Australia for brand new multi-million dollar out-door water recreation facilities.”
