“Community Cabinet in the regions provides an important way for Ministers to hear first-hand issues that come from the heart of the region, that is the farmers, business and community members,” Mr Piccoli said.
Griffith residents angry about the secret plans to downgrade to hospital’s pathology services after the Premier promised an upgrade during her June visit may also be delighted at the opportunity to tell ministers what they think.
“After the Premier’s visit to the region in June, the Premier decided Community Cabinet in Griffith would be a great opportunity for all NSW Ministers to see the huge economic growth in the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area as well as hearing first-hand about the challenges that water and other issues pose for this region,” Mr Piccoli said.
On the premier’s June visit to Griffith, she got angry at questions about when the promised funding boost to Griffith hospital would actually happen.
Mr Piccoli had said last month’s premier’s announcement was all “good news” for the hospital, and criticised The Area News for questioning the low amount of funding and why money had yet to be allocated in the NSW budget.
Mr Piccoli said the Cabinet’s schedule will also include a community dinner in Leeton, and events in Griffith on the morning of 17 August prior to the Community Cabinet meeting.
Mr Piccoli said he was delighted that the Community Cabinet meeting will occur in the region and will provide an opportunity for Ministers to hear from Councils, businesses and residents on issues that matter to them.
