Although their opposition has been enduring a tough year and is currently sitting in eighth with just two wins so far this season coach Adrian Pavese isn’t taking anything for granted.

“You never want to disrespect any side especially not Ganmain,” he said.

“They are playing a lot better than they were earlier in the season and we are going to have to be on our mark

“They have probably one of the best ruckman in the competition in Jacob Olsson.”

It’s a fair point when you look at the result from last weekend which saw Leeton hand Collingullie their first loss of the season.

“In the end, it was great that Gullie were knocked off,” he said.

“It goes to show how close the competition is.”

The Crows’ win means they stay a win in front of the Swans and Pavese knows they need to keep their form going if they want to secure a top three position.

“Four sides have won from outside the top three in recent years,” he said.

“Securing a top three spot gives a side security in case of injuries because you’re guaranteed two games in the final.

“If we don’t get into the top three we just need to make sure we are playing good footy.” 

Griffith will lose the services of three highly skilled players but should be able to welcome back some capable replacement.

“We will be losing Jack Rowston and Riley Irvin who are going back to school,” he said.

“We will also be missing Tom Valeri, but we should get Casey Moore, Mick Duncan and Reece Matheson back.”

The depth of the Swans’ squad is something the coach is proud of.

“The reserves team that played in Narrandera had all but two players who had experience in the first team,” he said.

“It holds us in pretty good stead and we have faith in whoever we call up.

“It’s the same with the 17s and I think Reece (Matheson) is a good example of that.”
