Leading blindness and low vision service provider Vision Australia believes the roll-out of the NDIS across the Murrumbidgee will help support the organisation’s main aims.
The NDIS went live in the Murrumbidgee from July 1, providing a new way to receive government-funded support.
Under the NDIS, people who are blind or have low vision may be eligible for a funding package to allow access to support services.

Vision Australia Riverina regional manager Helen Vey said the NDIS aligned with the organisation's key objective.
“We support our clients to live the life they choose," Mrs Vey said.
"Our clients set goals for themselves and then it’s up to our staff to support them to achieve those goals.
“Under the NDIS, the individual is involved in every step. In the planning stage they get to set their goals and once they have received their package they can then direct that funding towards the services that they believe will best support them.”
