The 2.30 am disturbance was not confrontational, however a number of expensive items were taken.
Once the intruder was alerted to the woman’s presence, the thief took a laptop, iPad and handbag with all it’s contents, before fleeing the premises.
Griffith Police Inspector Kim Traynor said police are relived over the non-confrontational nature of the theft, who fled rather than confronting the resident.
Thefts from vehicles have also occurred throughout the week.
A vehicle was broken into at a premises outside of Banna Lane between 9 am and 5 pm on Monday, with a GPS taken from the vehicle.
Two mountain bikes were stolen from a trailer at the front of a residence in Baringa Lane on Monday between 2.30 am and 3.30 am Monday morning.
The bikes are distinguishable, with a Giant mountain bike with yellow writing, and a lime green Cannandale mountain bike with white writing.
Once again, police are urging anyone with information to call police as soon as possible on 6969 4299.
We are relieved over the non-confrontation nature of the break-in.
