Sienna Donadel, Zaine Della Franca and Wil Donaldson, who all train daily at the Griffith Regional Aquatic Centre, saw their hard work pay off over the weekend.
They managed to amass enough points from top-10 finishes, an amazing feat which saw Griffith ranked 24th club out of 63 clubs across NSW at the meet.
To be able to compete at the championships, each had to achieve qualifying times in each stroke which they have done by attending carnivals in Canberra over the past few months.
Griffith Swimming Club president Shireen Donaldson said the club is proud of the three swimmers and the example they are setting.
"All three swimmers are very dedicated to their sport and spend a lot of time training, and sometimes this means at the sacrifice of other things.
“To perform so well in a high-pressure environment shows that their preparation was very solid coming into the meet.”
As events can have over 60 competitors, a top-10 placing is a significant achievement and a gold medal is coveted, the winner being announced as the NSW Country Champion for that particular event.
Wil Donaldson was particularly successful, winning the 12 yrs 100m breaststroke, 200m breaststroke and 100m butterfly and then placing second in three other events.
The trio are now preparing for the NSW SC State Championships in September when they face off with their Sydney counterparts.
