As a former resident, I am happy to forward onto my city dwelling friends (and my families) to perhaps encourage them to visit the vibrant and multicultural city (town) it has become today.
On my last visit in 2015, for the ‘Festa delle Salsicce’, where I celebrated my 70th birthday, my son, daughter-in-law and grandsons surprised me by coming to GRIFFITH.
I was happy to be their tourist guide. Catching up with Italian ‘amici’, school friends and of course we came home with local purchases from various Cellar Doors.
A Salami from Codemo’s was high on the shopping list.
My grandsons had a good time at Catania Fruit Salad Farm on the tour of the orchards.
The Italian Museum bought back memories, viewing the artefacts on display, many which were in my family home.
I remember GRIFFITH fondly.
Saluti,
Gloria Velleley, Belrose.
A few words to Griffith City Council
I've travelled on most of the roads outside of Griffith Shire from Griffith to Temora, West Wyalong, Lake Cargelligo, Hillston, Hay, Deniliquin, Tocumwal, Mulwala and these roads are great to drive on.
But Griffith roads are terrible, Wagga Wagga, Coolamon to Ardlethan Tops, Lockart to Narrandera and Leeton.
All roads outside of the Griffith Shire are very good but Griffith Council roads are terrible.
All you have to do is drive down Yambil Street to Kookora Street down to the fire station, terrible.
Griffith Council should spend more money on roads, not big roundabouts that people don't want.
Like the one on the old Willbriggie Road that the farmers said no to, but the Griffith Council went ahead anyway!
Pull your finger out and do the right thing for these people who lived here all their lives.
Fix your roads.
Lurch Tyndall, Griffith.
Silenced majority no longer shy
The silenced majority in the electorate (more alert these days) having been three times bitten and no longer shy always know when Labor, the Greens and the Coalition are running scared.
It becomes evident as they peddle their venom directed at Pauline Hanson.
They have every reason to be jumpy for One Nations' polling is up 16 per cent in Queensland alone (and this is not counting) the votes from those keeping their cards close to their chest.
In today's Australian newspaper her party is tipped to have the balance of power up there in the election.
The media here in Australia just don't get it for the more they try to discredit her (as a person) as well as her party the more the Aussie people will jump to her defence and support her.
Our governments here have met (at long last) their match for she won't be sat on silenced or forced to apologise when it isn't necessary just because she told it and still does how it really is.
The same as Trump in America won't be dictated to.
Lucky America they have a leader with guts more than we can say we've got.
Just a mob of inefficient misguided tree hugging nitwits, all talk and no real action of any real substance.
We can't wait till the next election to kiss them all goodbye and good riddance.
The people are more resolute this time around, their pockets are empty, their future bleak, their will crushed, but their determination is dead set on a One Nation victory.
Yvonne Rance, Griffith.
