A strong response from the community in response to a social media campaign, the special Batman hat taken from Amanda Rebetzke’s son earlier in the week has been returned.
Miss Rebetzke reached out to Griffith Buy Swap and Sell, Facebook groups, and The Area News in an emotional plea for the return of her son’s hat, taken off his head by a classmate as a “joke”.
The hat was found by a teacher on the front lawn, who surprised it’s owner in an emotional reunion.
When Amanda asked him how he reacted, he said “I cried mum”.
“My son purchased the batman hat out of his own money and rarely took it off his head it was also signed by the nitro circus when they were in town, so it has sentimental value to my son.”

“We believe some had plans of keeping the hat because it had been adjusted at the back, but because it had been shared so many times on social media they realised it would be recognised so decided to take it back” she said.
The hat will now be hung up on the wall because it holds far too much sentimental value to ever be lost again.
“We cannot thank everyone enough for the support it’s truly beyond words” Miss Rebetzke said.
